This exercise helps you to learn to use MS Word. Please print out this page, then follow the directions step by step to complete the work.

  1. Get into Microsoft Word by using your mouse to click W icon for Microsoft Word. Now you are in Microsoft Word.
  2. Please type the following page exactly as you see it:

 

Halloween

Halloween is a special day that American Children lov. On this day, October 31, children wear costumes. Some children wear costumes that represent spooky characters such as ghosts, monsters, witches, and skeletons. In the past, people believe that these spooky characters would scare away the evil spirits. Nowadays, however, Halloween is just for fun, and any kind of costumes can be worn. Children often like to dress up like charactes tha they see on TV or in current popular movies.

Children in costumes go from house to house. They carry a big bag and say "Trick or treat" to the person who answer the dor.

 

 

  1. Please check spelling by clicking the check button on standard toolbar (If you do not see the check sign, click Tools, then click Check Spelling and Grammar. When the computer locate a word that is spelt wrong, it will give you several possible words. Choose the correct one by highlighting it. Click Change. If you think your spelling is correct, click Ignore.
  2. Center: Highlight the title, then click Center button on the standard toolbar to center the title.
  3. Bold: Highlight the title again, then click the B button for bold.
  4. Save a New Document: Click File on the menu bar, you'll see a pull down menu. Highlight Save as…, click the small flat box on top of the dialogue menu, click 3 1/2 floppy a:, give the document a name that will help you remember what this document is about, then click Save.
  5. Print a Document: Click the Print button on the standard toolbar, and you'll get one copy of the document you typed. Do not click it many times. Do not waste paper. Hand in your work. Your work should look like the following:
