Compound Words

This is a fun exercise which gives you practice in selecting with the mouse and cutting and pasting. Words from the second column are to be selected and then moved over to match the appropriate word in the first column.. This is also a good exercise to practice the undo button on the upper toolbar to undo mistakes you may make.

Directions:

  1. Please open this page using Netscape. If you are using Internet Explorer, please close it and open Netscape.
  2. Save this page on your local computer in c: drive or in a: on your floppy disk. To do this, click File, click Save as. Then in the Save as Type box, click the little arrow and choose Text File. Finally click Save.
  3. Open the MS Word by clicking its icon. Open the file you just saved. Now you are ready to start the exercise.
  4. Compound words are made from two words put together. Select and cut and paste a word from column 2 to match a word in column 1 in order to make a new word called a compound word. The first one has been done already.
