This exercise helps you to learn how to find information on the Internet. Please print out the page, then follow the instructions step by step:

Exercise I. Use Internet to find the current population of the United States.

  1. Double click the icon for Internet Explorer.
  2. In the address box type: http://www.msn.com (or you can also type: http://www.yahoo.com), then press enter.
  3. In the search box, type: US population, then press enter.
  4. You will see a list of web sites with the information about the US population. Pick the most possible one for your need. Here you can click "Population Estimates-US Census Bureau".
  5. To find the most recent facts, click "American FactFinder" in the box on the right.
  6. Move the scroll bar on the eight side of your screen with your mouse until you see the United States total population. Write down your finding here:
