Course Reserves

Course Reserves
Most reserve materials are items placed in the library by instructors for students to use for specific courses, such as supplemental texts or sample exams. In addition, materials which are in high demand, or which are valuable or difficult to replace, may be placed in the reserve collection. Reserve items must be checked out and returned at the circulation desk

Requesting Reserve Materials
Reserve materials are shelved by the course name and number. To request an item on reserve, ask for it by the course name at the Circulation Desk (Checkout & Reserves).

Loan Periods and Fines for Reserve Items
Course instructors determine the checkout periods for reserve materials. Checkout periods can be 2 hours, 24 hours or 3 days. Because reserve items are in high demand for a whole class, it is important that they be returned on time.

Fines for overdue reserve items:

$2.00 per day for items on daily checkout.
.50 per hour for items on hourly checkout.

Placing Materials on Reserve
Instructors who wish to place items on reserve for a term should contact the Library Circulation Department at 206-527-3607. Please allow 3 days for processing.
