Group Study Rooms
Six group study rooms are available in the library --
3 on the lower level and 3 on the upper level.
Guidelines
- Group study rooms are to be used by groups of 2 or more people only, not by individuals.
- Individuals who want a silent study environment are directed to the silent study carrels in room 2133 (see below).
- To reserve a group study room, students must show an SCCD student photo ID card with a current registration sticker.
- Faculty and staff may reserve rooms on an ad hoc basis.
- Group study rooms may be reserved from 2 hours to 2 weeks in advance. Reservations are made at the circulation desk (Check Out & Reserves) and a reservation slip is given to the person to post on the room
- Group study rooms may be scheduled for no longer than 2 hours at a time and may be not be reserved in advance for periods of time longer than two weeks.
- Room renewals are made no earlier than the Friday before the week for which the room is desired.
- Reservations listed in the Reservation Book at the circulation desk take precedence over the reservation slips.
- The reservation for a group study room is canceled if the group has not shown up after 15 minutes of the reservation.
- Conflicts arising from the use of the group study rooms will be resolved by an available library staff member.
- Every effort will be made to accommodate instructors who want to use group study rooms occasionally for small group discussions with their classes.
- The Library staff is not responsible for personal items left unattended in group study rooms.
- Exceptions to the above guidelines may be made by the Library Administrator or Librarians.
Silent Study Room
Room 2133 is reserved as a silent study space for individuals. It is located
on the main floor of the library, across from the checkout desk. Reservations are not necessary.
