The most efficient way to find articles in magazines, newspapers, and journals is to search in the library's
periodical databases. To search for articles in online reference books, such as encyclopedias, use the library's
reference databases. You can also browse a list of periodicals owned by the library and connect to their web site.

	Academic Search Premier A very large, multi-disciplinary database, which includes scholarly journals as well as newspapers and popular magazines. Indexes over 8,000 journal titles, including more than 4,600 full-text journals. [more info]
	ProQuest Direct Articles from more than 2,000 publications. [more info]
	PsycARTICLES Full-text articles from journals published by the American Psychological Association, the APA Educational Publishing Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe & Huber. Includes all material from the print journals.
	ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry [via ProQuest] Indexes citations and full-text articles from more than 700 publications aimed at specific industries.
	Alt-Press Watch A full-text database of the newspapers, magazines and journals of the alternative and independent press.[more info]
	CINAHL This research tool for all areas of nursing and allied health literature provides full text for more than 600 medical journals.
	eLibrary Academic Articles and multimedia from more than 2,000 full-text magazines, newspapers, reference books, and radio/tv broadcasts. Benefits multiple research skill levels. [1981-.. ]
	Ethnic NewsWatch Collection of full-text articles from the ethnic, minority and native press. [1991-..]
	Health Reference Center Academic Search here for peer-reviewed articles on health and medicine.
	JSTOR Arts & Sciences I, II, III This high-quality, interdisciplinary archive includes access to over one thousand leading academic journals across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences, as well as select monographs and other materials valuable for academic work. The archive is full-text searchable, offers search term highlighting, includes high-quality images, and is interlinked by millions of citations and references.
	New York Times Historical Archives [via ProQuest] Full-text access to articles published by the New York Times from 1851-1999.
	NewsBank: Access World News Research current and archived news content for information on topics, events, issues, people, businesses, and more through this in-depth resource. Easy online access to local, in-state, national and international news sources, including newspapers, broadcast transcripts, newswires, news blogs, news web-only content and video. Go directly to Washington State sources, or straight to The Seattle Times .
	ProQuest Newspapers Full text of 300+ U.S. and international news sources. Includes coverage of 150+ major U.S. and international newspapers such as The New York Times and the Times of London, plus hundreds of other news sources and news wires.

	Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) Provides access to full-text articles from online scholarly journals covering all disciplines.
	ERIC Database Provides indexing and abstracting for documents and journal articles in the field of education, from 1966 to the present. ERIC is a free database, available to anyone over the Internet. Another version of the database is available here.
	Free Medical Journals Provides full-text articles to medical journals, including many international publictions. Content is delayed between one to 24 months.
	HighWire Press Indexes scholarly scientific journal articles from over 1,000 scholarly publishers, much in full text.
	PubMed Database (MEDLINE) A service of the National Library of Medicine, PubMed provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals.[more info]

	Access Science The McGraw-Hill’s Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, 10th Edition online, fully searchable encyclopedia that provides over 7,000 articles, 115,000 dictionary terms, research updates, biographies, news and links to web sites for further research.
	ARTstor ARTstor is a digital library of over 700,000 images designed to enhance teaching, learning and scholarship in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Images can be viewed in detail through features such as zooming and panning, saving groups of images online for personal or shared uses, and creating and delivering presentations both online and offline.
	Britannica.com Britannica.com is the online version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, plus selected Internet sites and articles from magazines and journals.
	CQ Electronic Library CQ Researcher, published by CQ (Congressional Quarterly) Press, reports on a current social issue each week. Reports are approximately 12,000 words long and provide: background information, important points to consider, charts and graphs, and a source list for further reading. Frequently covered topics include public policy, public opinion, economics, education, environment, government, law, and medicine.
	Cole Directory Search for businesses and residents by name, address, phone number, or SIC code for Seattle and the surrounding vicinity. Contact the Reference Desk (206-527-3607) for off-campus login and password.
	College Source Features over 12,000 college catalogs in complete cover-to-cover original page format. [more info] Available only on campus.
	CultureGrams Provides cultural and other information on countries including customs, greetings, lifestyles, government, economy, etc.

	Global Road Warrior The Global Road Warrior is a social/cultural, travel, and international business resource database covering 175 countries and territories. Includes over 6,000 color photos, and 1,575 country maps, all presented in a consistent 97-category framework for each country.
	Health and Wellness Resource Center The Health and Wellness Resource Center contains reference articles on health and nutrition from magazines and journals, including alternative-health publications.
	History Resource Center: U.S. The History Resource Center: U.S. provides integrated access to over 1,000 historical (primary) documents, more then 30,000 reference articles, and over 65 full-text journals covering themes, events, individuals and periods in U.S. history from pre-Colonial times to the present. The material also includes access to the citations for over 180 additional history journals from the Institute for Scientific Information's Arts and Humanities Citation Index.
	History Resource Center: World The History Resource Center: World provides essays, journal articles, biographies and primary source documents covering historical themes, events, individuals and periods in world history from antiquity to the present.
	Literature Resource Center The Literature Resource Center contains full-text journal articles, literary criticism, reviews, biographical information, interviews, and more. Includes writers in all disciplines from all time periods and from all around the world.
	Northwest High Tech Northwest High Tech provides a searchable database containing profiles of more than 2,000 computer companies in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia and Alberta. This resource was last updated in 2002.
	Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center is a database covering social issues, such as gun control, genetic engineering, censorship, endangered species, and terrorism. It provides viewpoint articles, contextual topic overviews, government and organizational statistics, biographies of social activists, court cases, profiles of government agencies and special interest groups, newspaper and magazines articles, as well as links to web sites.
	Testing and Education Reference Center This database contains practice guides for the GED, TOEFL, civil and military exams, and more, as well as college and scholarship information.
	TOPICsearch A current events database that allows researchers to explore social, political and economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics.
	WOIS Career Information The WOIS database contains job descriptions for more than 340 occupations, as well as information on training programs and schools in Washington state. Available only on campus.
