Provides current, quality health care information from the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other reliable sources.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Provides high quality information on most diseases and conditions from the individual institutes that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH). For quick links to information by health condition, click here. In addition, check out the individual institutes and centers.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the federal agency that focuses on disease prevention and control, environmental health and health promotion. To search for information on specific diseases and conditions, click on Health Topics A-Z.

Discovery Health
A variety of consumer health-related information from the Discovery Health television channel.

NOAH: New York Online Access to Health
Excellent source of consumer health information. Information available in English and Spanish.

MedicineNet.com
MedicineNet, Inc. is an online, healthcare media publishing company. It provides a browsable index of health conditions a medical dictionary, information on procedures & tests and medications. According to the web site, all information is provided by doctors.

PDQ® Cancer Information Summaries: Treatment
Comprehensive cancer information from the the National Cancer Institute. The PDQ database contains summaries of the latest published information on cancer prevention, detection, genetics, treatment, supportive care, and complementary and alternative medicine. Summaries are provided for patients and for health care professionals.

(King County Library Database)
Requires a King County Library Card
A comprehensive resource that provides integrated access to medical, health, and wellness information. Includes the Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine. New and updated material is added quarterly. New periodical and newspaper articles are added daily. Accessible anywhere with a KCLS library card number.

PubMed Database (MEDLINE)
Produced by the National Library of Medicine, PubMed provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals. Includes searchable full-text articles.

Health Sciences Library, University of Washington
The Health Sciences Library's web site contains a wealth of resources. In addition to UW only databases, the resources listed under Health Databases by Subject include links to many web sites that can be accessed by anyone.

National Library of Medicine
"The National Library of Medicine (NLM), on the campus of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, is the world's largest medical library. The Library collects materials in all areas of biomedicine and health care, as well as works on biomedical aspects of technology, the humanities, and the physical, life, and social sciences.

Bastyr University Library
Bastyr University, located in Kenmore, Washington, focuses on alternative medicine, including naturopathy, acupuncture, Oriental medicine, herbal sciences and nutrition. Their library and its resources are open to the public. The library's web site has a good collection of links to web sites on alternative medicine.

National Network of Libraries of Medicine
This site is geared more towards health professionals or librarians helping people find information, however there are some good links and tutorials on finding health information.

Dr. Weil is a Harvard Medical School graduate and founder of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona's Health Sciences Center in Tucson. Site includes information on various health conditions, recipes and information on Dr. Weil's health programs.

Alternative Medicine HomePage
Contains links to sources of information on "unconventional, unorthodox, unproven, or alternative, complementary, innovative, integrative therapies." This site was created and maintained by a medical librarian, Charles B. Wessel, M.L.S., Health Sciences Library System, University of Pittsburgh.

"The International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) is a database of published, international, scientific literature on dietary supplements, including vitamins, minerals, and botanicals. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM)
An agency of the National Institutes of Health. NCCAM conducts and supports research on complementary and alternative medicine and provides information to health care providers and the public.

Alternative Medicine Foundation
A nonprofit organization founded to provide information about alternative medicine to the public and health professionals.

Alternative Health News Online
An online journal.

M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Complementary/Integrative Medicine Education Resources (CIMER)
Provides educational resources to health care professionals and patients regarding the current understanding of complementary medicine. Spanish version available.

InteliHealth: Drug Resource Center
Provides information from sources such as the Harvard Medical School and University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. InteliHealth is a subsidiary of Aetna. In the Drug Resource Center you can search for information on drugs and find other information, such as how to read a drug label, articles on issues realted to prescription drugs, etc. Contains advertising.

RxList
Search for information on prescription drugs by generic or brand name. Also includes information on alternative medications, herbs and supplements. Contains advertising.

WebMD Drug and Herb Directory
Contains comprehensive information on prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and the most popular herbal remedies. Search by brand name or generic name. Contains advertising.

HealthSquare: Women's Health and Prescription Drug Reference
