Title Search | Author Search

Use the library catalog to find books on your topic. The library catalog finds books and other items, such as DVDs, CDs, videos, etc., owned by all of the Seattle Community Colleges. There are five ways you can search the catalog: keyword, title, author, subject or call number. If you have the title or author of a book, searching is pretty straightforward, as shown below. Finding a book on a particular topic is a little trickier. There are two main modes of searching the catalog -- basic and advanced.

Title Browse
Type in the title of the book, and select Title Browse. If the title begins with "The," "A", or "An" leave it out. For example, if you are looking for the book The Beauty Myth, you would just type in beauty myth. It isn't necessary to capitalize words in the title. Generally typing in the first three or four words of a title is enough. A

Titles List
Your search brings up a list of titles. Title #1 shows that more than one campus owns a copy of the 1991 edition of The Beauty Myth. South Seattle Community College owns the 1992 edition. The status shows that the book is available for check out. You need to copy down the call number HQ1219.W65 1992 to locate the book. Click on the title to get more information.

Author Browse
Type in the author's name -- last name first.
