FAQs about course evaluations

What your collective bargaining agreement says about student evaluations:

Full time tenured faculty:
Article 6.10: “Student Evaluations: Faculty will conduct quarterly student evaluations. One anonymous evaluation each year will be supervised by the administration and the results given to the Unit Administrator as well as the faculty member.”

Part time faculty:
Article 10.8: “Anonymous Student Evaluations: Part-time faculty not on the priority hiring list provided for in Section 10.7 above shall conduct anonymous student evaluations each quarter and shall provide the results to the unit administrator. Part-time faculty on the priority-hiring list will conduct quarterly student evaluations. One anonymous evaluation each year will be supervised by the administration and the results given to the Unit Administrator as well as the faculty member.”

Tenure Track Faculty:
The tenure committee decides whether or not anonymous student evaluations will be included as one of the evaluative criteria.

NOTE: Your student evaluations are to help YOU improve your teaching. It is a good practice to get the student evaluations once you have submitted your grades. It is also a good practice to keep them in case you need them.
