Course Reserves
What exactly are Reserves?
Reserves are a special collection kept at the Circulation Desk in each
of the libraries. Reserve materials are either items placed in the library
by instructors for students to use for specific courses, such as supplemental
texts, or sample exams; or they are items which the librarians have identified
as being in high demand, or very valuable, or difficult to replace if lost.
Loan Periods and Fines for Reserve Items
The course instructor determines the period of time for Reserve checkout
(generally 1-2 hours, Library Use Only). Because Reserve items are in high
demand for a whole class, it is important that they be returned on time.
Fines for overdue Reserve items are:
- 50 cents per hour ($5 per day maximum) for items on hourly checkout.
- $2 per day for items on daily checkout.
Checking Out Materials on Reserve
Reserve books are arranged by Course; photocopies are arranged by Instructor's
Last Name. Be sure to provide the correct information when making your request.
